On the cusp of passing from year 2022 into 2023, In our new home in Tucson, in the Sonoran Southwest, the New Year is nearly a whole day old and it's still 6pm Dec 31 in Tucson. But only here in Tucson. In London th New Year is an Hour Old already ... and in Auckland New Zealand ... it is 2PM New Years Day. From here in the Desert by just looking one way East and the Other West ...I am racing around the bend. Turning the corner to a new highway.
7.
In the 1970's when the world was young and bassists were learning the event horizons of four strings and there were no digital tuners: Harmonic Notes were how bassists tuned their instruments. This piece was written circa 1972 when Jaco and I were in separate universes but experimenting with Harmonic notes. This opus is the latest. Having no number to attach to it I have titled it with it's inspiration and construction. Phrygian / Dorian modes over Harmonic overtones. Mistakes at 15th fret intentionally left in as homage to Victor Wooten who taught us all, "the right note is only 1 fret away."
8.
An exploration of harmonic overtones on electric bass. Begun in the distant past when the sea, Jaco, and I were young.
